We sat down with fitness and lifestyle expert Jenna Wolfe, who has partnered with Microsoft to showcase the Microsoft Band, to get her take on healthy habits, inspiration, and what ingredient she’d be in a salad bar (hint: it’s spicy!). Read on for Part 2 of this three-part interview series.
How does Microsoft Band play a role in your fitness routine?
JW: The Microsoft Band allows me to actually do less thinking. The Microsoft Band is actually now going to think for me. I’m now going to be able to make workouts and let the band do its thing, and it’s a lot smarter than I am. It’s going to take the workouts I’ve created and tell me when to do it, how to do it, and basically why to do it—where my heart rate is, how much rest I get—and that to me is absolute gold. I really need that. It’s going to cut so much of the down time, the wasted time at the gym out for me. I wear this band all the time. I wear it as a watch, I wear it as a fitness companion, I wear it as a piece of information & technology, all of my social media—everything I do, I basically do through this band. So it’s going to allow me to be more efficient across all my platforms.
You inspire a lot of people, so who or what inspires you?
JW: I am inspired by an organic success story. I’m inspired by the person who starts on day 1 at ground zero with nothing but hope and promise and drive, and works really, really hard, and finally gets to the point where they wake up one day and say “You know what? I like the person I see in the mirror. I like the person that I’ve become. I like what I’ve done so far. I’m excited about this, let’s keep going.” That really does inspire me. You know, when I’m working with a client and they are down on themselves for weeks and weeks and then they walk in one day and say, “Hey, I have a dress that I put on last night and it actually fit me for the first time”—that motivates me, that inspires me. I’m in this space, I live in this space, I work out. But we all lose motivation, we all lose focus sometimes, we all lose inspiration. So it’s really nice to see someone on their journey have that “AHA” moment—that inspires me.
If you could be any ingredient in a salad bar, what would you be and why?
JW: I would be wasabi peas: crunchy, spicy, bold, unique, in your face, sarcastic, sassy, and exciting…and really clears out the sinuses.
